located in the south central area of US state of Alaska has a nickname of "The City of Lights and Flowers" and a motto of "Big Wild Life". Both of these phrases are fitting for this majestic city which certainly has its fair share of "wild life" as well as wildlife! Not to mention the views (and the wildflowers). Anchorage, Alaska is, in a word, spectacular.Anchorage only takes up around 5000 square kilometers of land and water. With a population of around 500,000 (around 50% of the entire state's population), it is a mid sized city (although the largest in Alaska) but one whose residents are endlessly attached to.
